Some Things Are Worth Remembering

If you've been around livestock very long, you probably know the feeling.

There's always one you remember.

The steer your kid spent all summer with. The barrow that finally got it done. The first banner. The last year in the junior show. Or maybe just the one everybody still talks about when an old picture gets pulled out.

Those memories have always been at the heart of what we do.

Where It Started

Long before there was an online store, our family business started with Jared carving livestock by hand.

Over the years, Jared Schlipf Designs became known throughout the livestock community for custom hand carved replicas. Each one was created from photographs and made to capture a particular animal, the markings, details and character that made it theirs.

Those carvings found their way into homes, trophy cases and show barns across the country, often becoming reminders of a season or an animal a family never wanted to forget.

Meanwhile, our own family was growing right alongside the business. Kids who grew up around Dad's shop are grown now, and these days there's another generation of little Schlipfs running around.

A lot has changed.

But we're still a family business, we're still livestock people, and we're still making things for families a lot like ours.

An Unexpected New Chapter

In July of 2025, our family was handed a change we never saw coming.

Jared suffered an eye stroke that left him blind in his dominant right eye. For someone who had spent years making his living carving intricate livestock by hand, it meant stepping away from the work he loved.

It was a hard season, but it also reminded us just how blessed we are.

The livestock community showed up for our family in a way we'll never forget, with prayers, encouragement, generosity and more kindness than we could ever adequately thank them for.

Most of all, our faith reminded us that even when our plans change, God's don't.

We didn't know exactly what the next chapter would look like.

Turns out, there was still a paintbrush waiting.

Creating Again

Today, Jared's original hand carved sculptures have been reproduced in resin, giving his artwork a new way to continue.

And Jared is back at the paintbrush.

Each custom replica starts with his original artwork and is individually hand painted from photos of your animal.

Because livestock people know it's the little things you remember, the white on her forehead, the way his legs were marked, or that spot you'd recognize anywhere.

It may look a little different than it did years ago, but pieces are once again leaving the shop made especially for livestock families.

And we're awfully grateful for that.

From Our Family to Yours

Somewhere along the way, our little family business grew beyond replicas, too.

Through Schlipf Design Co., we've added piggy banks, ornaments, livestock minis, fences and plenty of other things inspired by the way our own family lives.

Some things we make are meant to remember a champion.

Some are meant to recognize one.

And some are simply made for a little kid sitting on Grandma's floor, lining up cattle and building pens.

That's probably the best way to describe us.

We're a family business with several generations now involved, rooted in livestock, grateful for this community and thankful for the opportunity to keep creating.

To those who remember Jared's carvings and have followed our family for years, thank you for being here for this next chapter.

And if you're just finding us, welcome. We're glad you're here.

The shows end. The kids grow up. And eventually, the good ones leave the barn.

But some things are worth remembering.
